Remembering my last day of university

For the past four years I’d only yearned for that day; the day my university finally ends, the day when the hectic cycle of assignments, lectures and exams came to an end.

But when the day finally came to a close, when I submitted my answer sheet, when we all took selfies and chanted our department’s name; I wasn’t as happy as I thought I’d be, I was certainly relieved; but not happy.

There was a feeling of melancholy looming over the day. As cliché as it may sound, but I never realized when I grew attached to the small acre of land, when the rusty old buildings began feeling like a second home, when the people I befriended felt closer to me than family.

The feeling of it all coming to an end was surreal; like starting the finale of a long running show or going to the airport to say goodbye to a relative who’s moving to another country.

The past four years had been some of the most stressful years of my life, but they’ve also been the ones I’m most fond of. The ride certainly had been bumpy and full of twists and turns, but isn’t that what makes a rollercoaster ride thrilling and entertainin?
